Amber and Trevor had an awesome, super low key wedding. The snow had almost all melted, but there was still a chill in the air, and everyone did great with the outdoor photos! We did an impromptu shoot with Amber and her maid of honour Nicole at the house next to Amber's that happened to be open for viewing that day. The ceremony and reception took place in Selkirk at the Maple Tree restaurant. Great day!
Giselle & KB were married last December. Their ceremony took place at the incredibly beautiful St. Ignatius Church; group shots followed at the Legislature and Finn's Pub at the Forks. The reception took place at the Copa. It was a typical freezing December day, but the whole wedding party made the day fun and warm.
We also stopped at the couple's home to visit their adorable dog, and enjoyed taking some photos with their Christmas tree. KB is originally from Nigeria, and a great deal of his extended family came to Winnipeg for the occasion. The reception featured a number of Nigerian traditions, as well as a change of outfit for the latter part of the evening. The dancing was incredible, the mood was spirited, and it was an unforgettable evening. I also had the privilege of photographing the couple's traditional Nigerian engagement ceremony prior to the wedding, and had an incredible time!
So, it's been almost a year since I last posted, and in large part I blame it on my general hatred of customizing Blogger's template designs. So, until I can find a more professional (read: expensive) way to post individual photos, I've come up with a great solution!
From now on, my photoblog updates will be simultaneously posted here (as embedded videos) and on my new YouTube channel: Euphoria Photography on YouTube
In the meantime, I'm creating a bunch of videos for a year's worth of photos, so the stream will be VERY busy with new materials for awhile! Looking forward to the new way of doing things.
The first video is for a wedding I did last September, the wonderful Doug and Robyn! This coming September will mark not only their one year anniversary, but also the arrival of their first baby. I can't wait to continue updating my site with the milestones in their lives. I feel incredibly privileged that what began as a job has become a very meaningful friendship. I'm so happy to have them in my life! I will be photographing Doug's sister Chrissy's wedding next summer (engagement photos are on the way, they're awesome!); as well as Robyn's maid of honour Samantha's 2011 wedding. I've made so many great friendships from this one event, and it definitely reminds me why I love to do my job.
While I will openly admit that Summer is not my favorite season (I'm an Autumn girl), I do love how much it allows me to play with my camera outside. There are endless opportunities for amazing photos in summer, and I try to take advantage of them all. Here are a few of my favorite photos from June and the first half of July.
Neil and Carol, both good friends of mine, asked me if I could do a couple shoot for them since Neil's grandparents only had "terrible" photos of them as a couple. I agreed immediately, since they're such a fun, laid back couple, and we headed out to King's Park for this fabulous photo shoot. They were excellent sports about me forcing them into all sorts of goofy poses, but the end results were totally worth it.
I can't tell you how excited I am for Robyn & Doug's September 5th wedding. These two are so much fun, and are so obviously nuts about each other. It's sure to a an awesome day! To let them get used to my bossiness, we went out for an engagement shoot in a small park by the river on Wellington, right after the snow had melted. Fun times!
(this is also the introduction of my brand new "branding" which I think looks a lot tidier than the white borders.)
